The Burdekin caters for a wide range of entertainment, sporting activities, social and cultural events. The Burdekin Tourism Association Inc. produces a Calendar of Events and “This Month in the Burdekin” which lists most of the things that are happening in the district.
The Delta Cinemas show the latest movies while wonderful local, national and international live productions and entertainers can be seen at the Burdekin Theatre. There is a range of indoor and outdoor sports catered for - in fact most sports are played in the Burdekin from motor sports to lawn bowls thanks to our excellent weather. Local Race Days are very popular.
Local markets are held in plantation Park, Ayr on the1st and 3rd Sunday of
the month, bingo
is conducted most days and there are fetes and festivals at regular intervals.
Art, pottery and craft shows are also held regularly so there is always something
to do in the Burdekin.
