Welcome to Burdekin Shire!

Discover the wonders of a region built upon a vast underground natural aquifer, with picturesque wetlands, spectacular cane fires and  fantastic fishing.

In the Burdekin you will rediscover your senses by smelling and tasting Italian delicacies, seafood delights and tropical mangoes, feeling the pull of a giant Barramundi on the end of your fishing line, seeing visual displays of pioneering history and spectacular birdlife and hearing the roar and crackling of a sugar cane fire.

The Burdekin Tourism Association, which assists in the development and growth of tourism in the Shire, welcomes you to the area and encourages you to visit one of its information centres, including The Burdekin Visitor Information Centre in Plantation Park, Ayr and the Burdekin Gateway Information Centre in the old Railway Station, Home Hill.
